The Lord Is My Help

The Lord Is My Help

Heb. 13:5b-6 KJV

…..For he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. 6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

Do you realize that when you were at your weakest point in life, with no hope of ever reaching God by any efforts of your own, Jesus Himself got up and came for you! People are hurting in life because someone didn’t come for them, but Jesus came to rescue every man, woman and child out of their place of hopelessness.

Not only that, but having rescued you from the power of sin, He will never leave you alone again – not even for a moment. I know they told you that when you sin you cut yourself off from God so that He can’t help you, but that simply isn’t true. Jesus’ sacrifice was once and for all. That means that the way to Him is open no matter what you have done or what you are doing now, or what you might do in the future.

Is that a license to sin? By no means! There is no truly born again person who is looking for an opportunity to sin and get away with it; but there are many condemned, fearful Christians who have been sold the lie that God is angry with them for what they did yesterday, and because of that He won’t help them.

Listen to the heart of God in this scripture:

He has said, “I will never [under any circumstances] desert you [nor give you up nor leave you without support, nor will I in any degree leave you helpless], nor will I forsake or let you down or relax My hold on you [assuredly not]!” So we take comfort and are encouraged and confidently say, “The Lord is my Helper [in time of need], I will not be afraid. What will man do to me?” (Hebrews 13:5-6 Amp)

If everything is going good for you, these are nice words; but if you don’t know what is going to happen tomorrow and your life is hanging in the balance and you don’t know if you are going to make it, and then you bump into this verse, this verse is shouting ground. It will NEVER happen that you will be forsaken. The Lord will always receive you.

God can hold you, whatever you are going through – and He is able to make you bounce back again! He can raise you up again from wherever life took you, because He IS the resurrection and the life. If you think your situation is dead, and your life, your ministry, your marriage, your hopes and your dreams are over – look at this verse one more time and think again! It is not over, even if something or someone already died, you still have a chance. Your life is not over, because the Lord, Himself will help you!

That means you can boldly say, with courage and attitude like you know you have got some help, “The Lord is my helper!” Don’t despair if you are completely on your own; you have the best help that there is! When they start asking you, “How are you going to pay these bills?” “How are you going to get through this?” When your own mind is tripping and telling you that there is no way this situation will ever change, that you are getting too old and things are getting harder, you have to say it boldly, “The Lord is going to help me. The Lord is my helper.”

Then go to the Word. That is the only place you will find peace. Don’t look at your circumstances for peace and reassurance in the midst of a storm, and don’t search in your mind for a confirmation that things will be OK, look to the Word of God. Those who have no faith in God have to make do with the peace supplied by the natural world, but we have the peace that Jesus gave us by the promises of His Word.

Let the Word speak to your mind and to your emotions. Have the discipline to stay with that Word for as long as it takes for it to produce results in your life. Many Christians don’t have victory because they won’t cling to the Word for long enough. Quitting is not an option for you and me; we are destined to win every time!

Tell the devil, “I am not scared of you! I take authority and take captive every thought and bring it to subjection to Jesus Christ. From now on I declare that I have the best help there is! My God doesn’t need any help from me. He knows how to be God and to dig me out of a hole. He knows how to cure the incurable and make a way out of no way. He can handle His business! And His Word is coming to pass in my life!”
