Give Yourself Every Possible Chance

Give Yourself Every Possible Chance

It’s an interesting feature of being human, that we can only enjoy today when there is something to look forward to in our future. We are not just creatures of the moment, because we are made in the image of God. We are people of vision and purpose.

It’s very important when we have achieved a significant life goal or won a great victory, that we keep walking to embrace something new, or life will start to lose meaning and focus. When Elijah had just defeated the prophets of Baal, stirring up a massive display of God’s power, he had no vision or confidence for confronting Jezebel and ran and hid out of fear.  Depression overtook him, but God came and gave him a fresh assignment and he was able to go forward again.

It is a sobering conclusion to understand that God never calls us to accomplish something that won’t force us to depend on Him. Birthing any kind of dream that God has given involves challenges and seemingly impenetrable barriers. However, I have learned that if I refuse to focus on the size of my own strength and continually look to the God who spoke His word to me, I will be able to accomplish the impossible. We must never be content to let life sit us in a little chair and tell us that there is nothing in our future to reach for. There is a spirit of renewal that is available to us.

Job 14:7-9 shows us how this works
For there is hope for a tree, If it is cut down, that it will sprout again,
And that its tender shoots will not cease.
Though its root may grow old in the earth,
And its stump may die in the ground,
Yet at the scent of water it will bud
And bring forth branches like a plant.

You may have come to a point when natural hope has run out, and depression has begun to creep in; maybe the doctor gave you a bad report, or you may feel cut down by life because of broken relationships, crushed dreams, or repeated failures. The Word says that even if you have been at this place for some time, there is hope for you – it is a supernatural hope and it will cause you to revive and grow strong in an entirely new season of your life. This is the spirit of renewal.

Notice how the renewal takes place: “at the scent of water” the stump will bud. This is talking about the Word of God. When the Word comes to you and strikes your spirit again, fresh life will spring up.

When you are cut down by life, don’t take a break from church, even if your tragedy took place among the believers, because it is the Word that will bring you a fresh scent of what God will do in your life.

Take note that the Word doesn’t come with trumpets and fanfares in neon lights! The Word comes as a scent on a breeze. You just catch it as it is released. It seems light and insubstantial, and you can almost miss it, but it is the key to your breakthrough.

When you are in a painful season, don’t seek the comfort of pitying friends, seek a Word! That is the time when you can’t afford to miss a service because you don’t know when your Word will come forth.

Now you SAY about yourself the same as that Word God sent to you. You have been authorized to decree a thing and it SHALL be established, so make a decision that you are a winner and declare it. Nothing shall be impossible for you. It starts with a decision

Your Word might come as a “what if?” thought. What if I made that phone call to say I am sorry? What if I asked again, went again, tried again? As soon as you catch the scent of it, act on it! It is your way out. There is always something you can do about where you are, even if it is simply to maintain a good attitude in the midst of your situation.

Remember, when trouble is in your life, you won’t understand what is happening to you, so make sure that you let God decide how He will deliver you. The answer usually won’t look as you expect it to. The battle is the Lord’s and by setting your hope and expectation on His goodness, you WILL obtain a good report.

Bright futures respond to an unyielding indomitable determined RESOLVE not to accept the status quo. If you keep looking to circumstances to determine how likely it is that you will win, you are setting yourself up for discouragement or depression.

Please remember, amazing things happen when you pray. People are not defeated by circumstances but by the weakness & malnourishment of their spirit, where the real power resides.

(Prov 18:14),
The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?
So keep your connection with God strong as you commune with Him over His Word.
Always Give Yourself Every Possible Chance.
